Nikon has just announced their new D7200. It seems astounding that the D7100 has been in service since February 2013 - which goes to prove what a capable camera it was/is and how difficult it would be to improve it.
Well the D7200 has addressed the few D7100 shortcomings and offers a much expanded buffer, inproved 51 point autofocus and added WiFi with NFC - so now Nikon's flagship DX camera is pretty much perfect.
The new NIkkor AF-S 300mm f4E PF VR has started to trickle through. Only slightly larger than the 24-70mm f2.8 and razor sharp. Nikkor 300mm f4 PF VR $2525
